The Wall

American Veterans Traveling Tribute is a group of veteran owners who are committed to travel the USA to honor , respect, and remember those who served , and pay specific tribute to those who gave all. Performance of this mission also insures that all will honor and respect those who have served our country and those who serve now. We are AVTT for short. AVTT fulfills its mission statement by presenting the "Cost of Freedom" Memorials and exhibits. The exhibit consists of:
A. The Centerpiece: an 80% size replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. This 80% replica contains 100% of the names. It is 370 long and about 8 ½ ft tall at apex. This exhibit is called the Traveling Wall. It was constructed in 1997- early 1998, and began traveling the USA in 1998. AVTT’s traveling wall is the largest Wall replica traveling the USA, and is not to be confused with several other replica Walls; The Moving Wall, The Dignity Wall, the Wall That Heals. These replica Walls do a fine job, and we are all on a mutual mission.
B. The Cost of Freedom Memorial: COF is a series of stand up exhibits created in gold dog tags to record the names of those who gave their lives for our freedom, since Vietnam; including present day Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. A stunning exhibit for all to see.
C. 911 Memorials: A standup exhibit with lighted twin towers for all see, and make sure “We Never Forget”. Each name is recorded according to their location.
D. Walk Of Hero’s: A series of stand up’s to pay tribute and educate all about our countries history and the conflicts the USA has been involved in to insure our freedom. Freedom did not come for free. This represents the True Cost Of Freedom in lives.
E. Art Display: A nationally acclaimed art display of original paintings, called Vietnam Remembered, and more for viewing, education, and reflections. Posters and prints are available for sale.
F. Tribute Panel: AVTT offers a personal tribute panel. Anyone can purchase a silver custom inscribed dog tag to place on our tribute panel. This is a tribute and a personal message to a loved one of past or present. AVTT’s tribute panel will travel the USA with all other exhibits.
G. World War II: AVTT presents displays of pictures and information to pay specific tribute to these veterans. Remembering, educating, and respect are main focuses of AVTT. These special Tributes, together with all other before identified exhibits insure that all living veterans are honored, and we are fully; American Veterans Traveling Tribute.
AVTT attends sponsored events to also insure that all who cannot travel to Washington DC., have an opportunity to attend, respect, and remember. We have also experienced that many who can, will not go Washington DC. When sponsors bring AVTT to communities, these persons many times cannot resist the opportunity to attend and experience some healing. We Americans must never forget our freedom’s roots. AVTT is not government sponsored or affiliated. We are self funded via sponsorship fees, donations, and sale of merchandise at events. AVTT is also a part of The Traveling Wall Foundation (TWF); an IRS designated 501 C3. Donations or support to AVTT’ mission via TWF are qualified charitable tax deductions. The TWF is managed by a board of directors and all funds are allocated to support AVTT’s mission and non AVTT related veteran causes or charities.
All comments and/or questions are welcome and encouraged to any person’s identified on our web site, www.avtt.org. Also visit our blog under the latest news and follow our progress icon on the web site for current information and pictures.

Korea & Vietnam
M38 Jeep
The WWII jeep was very successful and as a result inspired many military vehicles. The M38 was the jeep used during the Korean War and into the Vietnam War periods. The M38 was a direct descendant of the Willys Jeep of WWII fame. The M38 is a little larger than the WWII Willys. Over 45,000 were built between 1950 and 1952.
M151 Jeep
The M151 MUTT was the successor to the Korean War M38 jeep. The M151 was first put into service in Vietnam. The M151 Mutt played an active part in military service well into the 1980s when it was phased out for the HUMVEE. The US Marine Corps used variants of the M151 up to 1999. The M151 has seen service in over 100 different countries.
M37 Truck
The M37 truck was used extensively by US armed forces during the Korean War. The M37 was produced by Dodge as a 3/4 ton four wheel drive truck for the military. Production of the M37 began in 1951 and continued until 1968. Approximately 115,000 M37s were produced. The M37 series was used by all the U.S. services from the early 1950s through the 1980s and exported widely around the world.
World War II
THE JEEP
During the All American Salute to the Troops spectators will have the opportunity to see several samples of the WWII vehicle known world wide as the JEEP.
In 1940 the US Army submitted a request to automotive manufacturers to design a 1/4ton, 4X4 vehicle. Companies were given 49 days to submit their first prototype and 75 days to provide 70 test vehicles. Only three companies submitted proposals: American Bantam Car Company, Ford Motor Company and Willys-Overland Motors. Bantam won the bid however due to their lack of production capability the blueprints were forwarded to Willys and Ford. Willys and Ford began producing the vehicle primarily recognized as the "Willys Jeep".
During WWII, Willys produced over 360,000 jeeps with the designation of MB and Ford produced over 280,000 vehicles with the designation GPW. The two jeeps are virtually the same with some minor visual modifications between the two companies. The jeep saw action in every theater of the war and served the military forces of many countries.
While at the Salute to the Troops you will be able to see both a Willys MB and a Ford GPW. A challenge for visitors will be to identify which is a Willys and which is a Ford.
M4 SHERMAN TANK
The M4 Sherman tank was the primary medium tank produced by the United States during WWII. Approximately 50,000 Sherman tanks were produced during the war. The Sherman tank was used by the US Army, US Marine Corps as well as several other Allied Nations.
The Sherman tank continued service with the US military until the end of the Korean War and continues to serve some military forces around the globe in both a training capacity and for combat today.
M5 STUART TANK
The Stuart tank was an American light tank used during WWII by both British and other Commonwealth forces before the United States entered the war. The Stuart tank saw action in the deserts of Africa, the islands of the Pacific Ocean and the fields of Europe.
M20 ARMORED CAR
The M20 armored car was a 6x6 light armored car produced by the Ford Company. The M20 is a variant of the M8 armored Car. The main difference between the two is the M20 does not have a turret mounted weapon. The M20 was used as a command vehicle and for forward reconnaissance. Over 3600 of these vehicles were built during the war and they saw action in both the European and Pacific Theater of Operations.
M3 HALFTRACK
The M3 halftrack was an armored personnel carrier used by the United States and its allies during WWII. The M3 had many different variants. Some halftracks were designed to transport troops into combat while others were equipped with anti-aircraft guns, mortars, anti-tank guns and small artillery pieces.
M3a1 SCOUT CAR
The M3 Scout Car was used by the United States during WWII for patrol, scouting, and as a command vehicle. The scout car first saw action in the Philippines in 1941-1942. The scout car continued to serve in a combat capacity with US forces during the invasion of North Africa in 1942. In 1943 the US determine the scout car was too vulnerable and replaced the type with the M8 and M20 Armored Car. The M3 Scout Car was used throughout the war in a support capacity. The M3 was also provided to the Soviet Union under lend-lease agreements.
WC-63 WEAPONS CARRIER
The WC-63 was a 6X6, 1 1/2 ton truck produced from 1942 through the end of WWII. The WC-63 saw service around the globe transporting troops and equipment to and from the battle zones.
GMC 2 1/2 TON TRUCK
The 2 1/2 ton truck was the backbone of the American military during WWII. The deuce and half was used as the primary means of transporting supplies to soldiers in every theater of operation during WWII. The GMC 2 1/2 ton truck was used by several countries throughout the war and variations of this vehicle continue to serve our military today.
37mm ANTI-TANK GUN
During the 1930s, the German and Japanese armies equipped their forces with a variety antitank guns. The US War Department took notice and the lack of a similar system in American service. In October 1938 the new 37mm weapon was accepted into service as the M3 antitank gun. Production began the following month and the first guns were delivered early in 1940. Upon the US entering WWII, the 37mm gun was too small for use in the European theater however it was well-suited to requirements of war in the Pacific.
